On Tuesday, October 16, Discord Launched both their Game Store Beta and Nitro Subscription service.

The Discord Store is a curated game store much like Steam while Discord Nitro is a monthly subsciption service which lets you play a set of games for free.

We want to make it easier for you to find games to play with your friends. Our curated selection, editorialized content, and surfacing of social information should help you figure out which games are right for you.

Discord Blog

The Store has been integrated into the Discord Chat UI in the Browser and Desktop Apps. The UI now includes the Store and a New Library section to store all the purchase games.

First Games On Discord

The games on the Discord Store are referred to as First on Discord or FOD. These games are exclusive on PC to Discord for usually 90 days with the possibility of console launches during the 90 days.

The following is a list of the first set of games available on the discord store:

  • Moonlighter
  • Frostpunk
  • Starbound
  • Masters of Anima
  • Celeste
  • Dead Cells
  • CrossCode
  • Omensight
  • Into the Breach
  • Battle Chasers: Nightwar
  • Red Faction Guerrilla
  • Spellforce 3
  • This is the Police 2
  • Hollowknight
  • Subnautica
  • The Banner Saga 3
  • Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

The Discord Nitro now includes “a growing library of critically acclaimed games that we think you and your friends should play” notes the discord blog. The total value of the over 60 games available through discord Nitro is valued at over $1000 with Discord planning on adding more games to its Nitro Library.

The is however the danger that Games available in Nitro may leave the program but Discord asserts “your save data will remain even if games rotate out of our library”.

There is a Classic Nitro Subscription plan for those who have no interest in games at $4.99/mo which includes perks such as animated avatars, ability to choose your tag (the #0000 next to your username), higher quality screen share, custom emoji anywhere, animated emoji, larger file upload limit (50mb from 8mb), and a badge.

Still in Beta, The Discord Game Store and Nitro Subscription service look very promising. So what are you waiting for? Head on over to the discord store and checkout their latest games.
