The New Gmail Offline feature has rendered the need for Googles Chrome Extension irrelevant. Previously if you wanted to access your emails offline, you had to use chrome dedicated “Gmail Offline” app.

The new strategy allow the use of one UI whether your checking mail online or offline as opposed to using two apps.

With those points in mind, Google is removing the Chrome app from the Chrome Web Store after December 3rd, 2018. This they say is in line with their efforts to “move Chrome apps to the web”.

G Suite admins and User of the app are being encouraged to enable the Offline Feature within the new Gmail which is available for Chrome browser (v61 or higher).
