Vice President of Lenovo, Chang Cheng teased a new smartphone via China’s Weibo social network teased the Lenovo Z5. The Lenovo Z5 has a framed screen with an ultra-thin bezel.

The Z5 sketch follows the release of a teaser image along with a claim of an impressive “screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent”.

Apple has said its iPhone X is “entirely screen” however a notch doesn’t necessarily make this true. The Z5 sports a screen ratio of 95 percent and packs “18 patented technologies.”

There was quite a clear statement on whether there would be a front-facing camera. This is one of the challenges of creating an All screen device such as the Lenovo Z5. Apple solution being the notch while other devices either have high screen ratios (Vivo Apex) or bottom bezels with popup selfie camera (Mi Mix 2).

Those “18 patented technologies” hinted earlier may be the resolution to the front-camera / notch presence issue.

Desperate for a hit smartphone for the global, Lenovo looks to compete with local rivals such as Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi and Vivo.
