Launched on February 1, 2019, originally introduced in China as the Nokia X7, The Nokia 8.1 is a mid-ranged smartphone launched in India by HMD Global, The Finnish company revived the Nokia Brand.

Features and Specifications

The device sports an adaptive 6.18-inch Full-HD+ HDR10 supporting display which keeps the colors accurate and the content visible. There are two cameras, A 20 MP selfie camera at the front and two 12MP / 13MP Camera on the back.

The handset has a premium glass sandwiched metal design with diamond-cut edges to give it a luxurious flagship look.

It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box. It also comes in two variants, 4GB RAM + 64GB Storage and the much larger/pricier 6GB RAM + 128GB Storage variant. The device is powered by an AI-powered Qualcomm™ Snapdragon® 710 processor.

On the Camera front, The phones marketing focus is hugely centered around its camera and media features as you can see in the video above. Its 20 MP front selfie camera offers beautiful selfies in low light and it’s back dual camera’s (12/13 MP) offers Zeiss optics, dual-LED dual-tone flash, panorama, HDR and Bokeh. It also supports HD audio sound and HD video capture/playback.

In terms of battery, The smartphone has a 3,500mAh non-removable battery with 18W fast-charging support. Android Pie also supports adaptive battery feature which will add on average 2 additional days of battery life.

What sort of charger does the Nokia 8.1 support? Well, the device supports a USB Type-C 1.0 connector right out of the box.

Finally: The dual sim based smartphone supports 2G (GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 [SIM 1 & SIM 2], CDMA 800 & TD-SCDMA ), 3G ( HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100) and 4G(LTE). How fast is the internet speed? arround 42.2/5.76 Mbps (HSPA) and Cat6 300/50 Mbps via LTE-A (2CA).

There is also Fingerprint (rear-mounted) sensor, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, WiFi Direct and hotspot.

The Nokia 8.1 device is available in two variants, Blue Silver and metallic looking Iron. There are overall 6 color variants, the Blue, Silver, Steel, Copper, Iron, Steel variants.

At the time of writing, The Nokia 8.1 is available in India at discount rate of INR19,999 ($290) for the 4GB/64 GB variant while the 6GB/128GB model retails at INR22,999($330) via Amazon.
