The Google Android Play store host millions of apps, each app has to meet the various standards in order to get listed in the store. It is a continuous issue for any store to ensure compliance which ensures the privacy and security of their users.
In the Reddit post referenced below, A user Reddit with the username AnusMcBuster posted an entry in which he warned against the usage of an EtherDelta App which resulted in the loss of between 0.05 – 0.6 of Ethereum.
EtherDelta is a Decentralized is a trading platform for Ether and Ethereum-based tokens. The App Uses the EtherDelta Logo and was added to the play store on April 8, 2018. It is not an Official app for EtherDelta Exchange and lists “Ethedelta” as its creator.
The App also had a rating of five per APKMonk which lists the app for download. The App in question was gradually removed from the Play Store as additional comments were added to the Reddit entry.
The creation of Apps such as this one continues to be an ongoing issue with app store which has to increase their moderation of approved apps and user reporting.
Events like these will continue to happen but it is hoped that the Reddit post highlights the need to research cryptocurrency tools and Tokens before dedicating your usage.
